Zoho People for UAE Employers
Part of Zoho Partner in Dubai
An HR system earns its place on the documents rather than the org chart. Visas, Emirates IDs, labour cards and passports all expire, each with a consequence attached, and most UAE employers still track them in a spreadsheet one person maintains.
Expiry tracking is the reason to buy it
Every employee in the UAE carries documents with dates: residence visa, Emirates ID, labour card, passport, often a professional licence. Missing one is not an administrative slip — it can mean fines, a blocked renewal, or an employee unable to travel.
The spreadsheet works until the person maintaining it takes leave, or until headcount passes the point where anyone reads it weekly. Systematising it costs little and removes an entire category of avoidable problem.
Document expiry
Visas, Emirates IDs, labour cards and passports with owners and lead times, not a shared calendar.
Escalating reminders
Notice at ninety, sixty and thirty days rather than one alert somebody misses.
Document storage
The actual copies attached to the employee record, findable when an authority asks.
Renewal status
Where each renewal has reached, so nobody assumes a colleague is handling it.
Leave configured to UAE Labour Law, not to a default
Annual leave, sick leave with its stepped pay entitlement, maternity and parental leave and unpaid leave each have specific treatment under UAE law, and the defaults in any international HR product will not match them.
Getting this wrong is quietly expensive. Accruing on the wrong basis produces a balance that is wrong at settlement, and the discrepancy surfaces when somebody leaves and disputes their final figure.
Onboarding, probation and the record you keep
Probation carries rules on notice and confirmation, and a probation period that passes unremarked has effectively ended in the employee's favour. A system that prompts the conversation is worth more than one that records it afterwards.
Self-service does the rest. Payslips, balances, requests and document uploads handled by employees removes most routine traffic from a small HR team — which in a fifty-person UAE company is often one person doing HR alongside something else.
Probation prompts
Confirmation dates raised before they pass rather than noticed afterwards.
Onboarding checklists
Visa, bank account, IT access and induction as tracked steps with owners.
Employee self-service
Balances, requests and documents handled by staff instead of by email to HR.
Approval chains
Leave routed to the right manager, with a record of who approved what.
